Since February 15 when Wuxi reported the first Covid-19 patient related to a nonlocal confirmed case, all levels of the city immediately activated response measures with targeted, stringent and steady steps. We have taken a science-based management approach, rolled out targeted policy measures and forged synergy with high efficiency. CPC members, medical staff, policemen, community staff, volunteers and military officers stationed in Wuxi have been working hand in hand day and night. All citizens of Wuxi actively cooperated with our effort and showed their full support. Wuxi sees no newly confirmed case outside the designated places after reporting the first Covid-19 patient and keeps the overall situation of epidemic prevention and control stable. At present, treatment of all patients and asymptomatic carriers admitted to the designated hospital has been proved effective. 2 asymptomatic carriers were transferred to the phase of health monitoring and rehabilitation management on February 24. The nucleic acid test result of 1 asymptomatic carrier turned negative today.

Today relevant municipal departments of epidemic prevention and control took samples from the places related to the confirmed cases again, collecting over 2100 samples and all tested negative. After comprehensive evaluation by the expert group, notice on reopening schools and resuming classes and orderly reopening relevant business premises is as follows:

1.As of February 28, kindergartens, primary schools and middle schools in Liangxi District and Xishan District are allowed to resume face-to-face classes. The specific time for teachers and students to return to school shall be notified by the schools according to the requirements of the district and superior authorities. Off-campus training institutions which meet the regulations in urban areas are allowed to resume face-to-face training activities.

2.As of February 28, except for chess and card rooms and mahjong clubs, all the other business premises including movie theatres, internet cafes, bars, KTVs, song and dance clubs, videogame clubs which were suspended for business earlier are allowed to reopen in an orderly fashion and shall admit customers of no more than 50% of the approved capacity.

3.As of February 28, online and offline pharmacies resume selling drugs which fall into the four categories of supervised drugs for epidemic prevention and control, namely antifebrile, antitussive, antiviral and antibiotic drugs. All pharmacies shall observe the real name registration rules. When detecting people with fever or other abnormal physical conditions, please report to the local epidemic prevention and control headquarters immediately.

4. Reopened business premises and off-campus training institutions shall take primary responsibility as basic units for epidemic prevention and control. Disinfect relevant places before reopening. All staff shall obtain negative nucleic acid test results within 24 hours before returning to work. Designated epidemic prevention supervisor and disinfection staff. Carry out prevention and control measures including temperature taking, trave history code and health code checking, wearing face masks, room ventilation, cleaning and disinfection.

As we still face daunting challenges regarding the COVID-19 epidemic, we cannot afford to relax our vigilance for a moment. We call on all citizens to exercise precaution, abide by epidemic prevention and control regulations, get vaccinated and take primary responsibility for your own health. Competent departments of all districts (cities) and industries shall earnestly shoulder their respective management responsibilities, strengthen efforts in supervision and inspection, so as to ensure all measures are put in place. Any violation of the epidemic prevention and control regulations shall be held accountable according to the laws and regulations.
